I was looking back through photos and saw this one from my time giving a workshop at the Institute for Mental Health in Singapore. They transitioned over time from an old school asylum to one that works to treat patients with dignity and values the beauty of the physical space. This gate was left as an art installation to remind everyone how far they had come and philosophically how much had changed. My time at Mercy Health was marked by a similar movement toward treating patients with dignity. This picture is one that reminds me how vital it is that we honor the dignity of every person who we help treat.
